30 days to go until the start of the 26thConcours Mondial de Bruxelles in Switzerland.

This year, the organisers have chosen an unusual venue for the event – the World Cycling Center in Aigle. The multi-purpose infield area will be transformed to meet the stringent requirements of the Concours Mondial for tasting, but will still retain the atmosphere of the International Cycling Union. During the tasting sessions, the members of the panel will be able to experiance true competition spirit surrounded by the 200-meter indoor cycling track.

Switzerland will bring new business contacts for the participants, exposure to a new wine market and culture, and the opportunity to discover unique local wines”, says Thomas Costenoble, Managing Director of the CMB.

In unison with the Alpine landscape, the Swiss edition of the Concours Mondial de Bruxelles is going green. The organisers have invested in making the competition more environmentally-friendly. The evaluation sheets for the tastings have been completey replaced by tablets; and instead of bottles of mineral water, the judges will be given Alpine tap water. Gifts for the tasters are made from natural, eco-friendly materials and even the name badges are plastic-free.

To accommodate its judges and guests, the Concours Mondial de Bruxelles has bookedalmost the entire ski resort of Leysin at 1,200 meters above sea level. The traditional Aigle-Leysin cog train has been chosen for its environmentally-friendly credentials and will take the judges to the competition’s tasting venue, offering breathtaking views of the landscape and the vineyards of the Vaud region.

The 30-strong team of the Concours Mondial de Bruxelles will be on the spot days earlier to make sure everything is prepared to the highest standards. 150 catering school students and their supervisors will provide local reinforcements and help with organizing the tastings.

The four-day event program includes masterclasses, tastings and vists to numerous wine estates. Offbeat locations, from the Alpine peaks to Aigle castle, will offer the panel members a true and authentic Swiss experience. The Fête des Vignerons, a unique celebration that takes place in Vevey in 2019 for the first time in 20 years, will also be part of the program with a presentation and tasting during a cruise on Lake Geneva.

The 26thCMB will be held from May 2 to 5, 2019, with the support of thetown of Aigle, Swiss Wine Promotion, the Canton of Vaud and Raiffeisen Bank. Wine is part of Swiss gastronomy and therefore AOP Gruyère cheese, Hugo Reitzel culinary products and Nespresso will also be supporting the event. TheSwiss Travel System (STS), Switzerland Tourism and their regional partners are looking forward to showing off their country to participants. Similarly, the wine promotion offices of Vaud, Genève, Valais and Neuchâtel are supporting CMB.
