Paolo Basso

Paolo Basso, winner of the ‘Best Sommelier of the World’ title in 2013, is world renowned for his extraordinary palate and experience in the field of fine and rare wines. He is also one of only six sommeliers in the world to have won both the European and global titles for ‘Best Sommelier’. Among others he works as lecturer and wine teacher at the School of Wine in Changins and Glion Institute of Higher Education in Switzerland and at the Worldsom Sommelier Academy of Bordeaux. Since 2013 he has become himself wine producer and today he produces three labels in his region, Ticino-Switzerland. As consultant, since 2014 he is in charge to select wines for Air France. In parallel with the consulting activities he does for large international companies, Paolo Basso is an ambassador of choice for Swiss Wines, promoting and representing them at international events.

José Vouillamoz

Dr José Vouillamoz is one of the world’s leading authorities on the origin and parentage of grape varieties through DNA profiling. Swiss grape geneticist of international fame, trained with Prof Carole Meredith at the University of California at Davis (USA), he’s the co-author with the two Masters of Wine Jancis Robinson and Julia Harding of the multi-award winning book Wine Grapes (Allen Lane, 2012), the ultimate reference on all the grape varieties that are cultivated in the world. He is also author and co-author of several scientific papers and grape books. Vouillamoz is a wine educator, a wine lecturer, as well as a member of the Académie Internationale du Vin, of the Académie du Vin de Bordeaux and of the Circle of Wine Writers.

Oliver Viret

Since 2017 dr. Oliver Viret has been in charge of Vaud wine growing at the Directorate General of Agriculture, Viticulture and Veterinary Affairs (DGAV) with the Department of Economy, Innovation and Sport (DEIS). He has 25 years of research experience at Agroscope, the Swiss centre for agricultural research in Changins, in the division of plant protection in grape and field crops, viticulture and oenology . Dr. Oliver Viret has been a national expert for OIV for 12 years in the Vine Protection and Genetics expert group and has written books in the box set ‘The Vine’ fungal diseases (volume 1), pests and beneficial insects (volume 2), and viruses and phytoplasmas (volume 3 published this summer). Furthermore, he is a translator of Simonit & Sirch’s books on vine pruning, co-author of the book Roche et Vin, the ‘Oxford companion to wine’ (J. Robinson) and many other books on vines.
