Anjou-Saumur To Host The 2027 Rosé Wines Session by Concours Mondial de Bruxelles | CMB
From March 19 to 21, 2027, Anjou-Saumur, in the heart of the Loire Valley, will become the international capital of rosé wines, as it hosts the Rosé Wines Session of the Concours Mondial de Bruxelles | CMB in its Loire vineyards.
By hosting this major international event, Anjou-Saumur confirms its status as a key region for rosé wines and will offer tasters the opportunity to discover the originality and uniqueness of Loire wine profiles.
Between emblematic off-dry rosés and fresh, dry rosés, the vineyards of Anjou and Saumur embody a distinctive vision of rosé: expressive, accessible wines shaped by historical expertise and a deeply rooted Loire identity.·
A True Rosé Culture
In Anjou-Saumur, rosé is much more than just a wine category: it is a tradition deeply rooted in the history of the vineyard. Over time, the region has established itself as one of the major cradles of rosé in France, thanks to its remarkable diversity of styles.
Through its Appellations of Controlled Origin (AOC) : Cabernet d’Anjou, Rosé d’Anjou, Rosé de Loire and Saumur Rosé, the Anjou-Saumur vineyard today offers wines with a strong identity, made from grape varieties typical of the Loire Valley.
Rosé wines from the region are mainly produced from Cabernet Franc, Cabernet Sauvignon, Grolleau and Gamay, grape varieties that bring freshness, balance and aromatic expression.
Emblematic Appellations
Cabernet d’Anjou has, for several years, established itself as the benchmark for off-dry rosés. Appreciated for its balance between sweetness and freshness, it appeals to an ever-growing audience.
With around 40 million bottles produced each year, it is the leading Loire wine by volume, across all colours. It is also the best-selling Protected Designation of Origin (PDO) rosé in French retail.
Rosé d’Anjou, with its round and fruity profile, also contributes to the vineyard’s reputation, particularly internationally. Of the approximately 14 million bottles sold each year, 43% are exported.
Rosé de Loire, dry and structured, represents an elegant and contemporary expression of Loire rosé. Produced across a wider part of the Loire Valley, it accounts for around 5 million bottles marketed each year.
Finally, Saumur Rosé completes this range with a fresh, fruity and delicate style. Produced in the heart of the Saumur vineyard, it fully contributes to the diversity of Anjou-Saumur rosé wines.
This diversity is one of the region’s greatest strengths: rosés with unique, accessible and modern profiles, driven by a genuine culture of pleasure and sharing.
A Vineyard Shaped By The Loire
Located between Angers and Saumur, the Anjou-Saumur vineyard covers nearly 20,000 hectares and includes 27 appellations of controlled origin.
Shaped by the Loire River and its tributaries, this wine region offers one of the most complete expressions of the French vineyard, with white, red, rosé and sparkling wines recognized worldwide.
Between the schist soils of “Anjou Noir” and the tuffeau limestone of “Anjou Blanc”, the richness of the soils, combined with a mild climate tempered by the Loire, creates ideal conditions for producing expressive, balanced wines with great freshness.
Beyond its wine heritage, Anjou-Saumur is part of the cultural and natural landscape of the Loire Valley, a UNESCO World Heritage Site. With its vineyards, charming villages and châteaux, the region is now one of the most dynamic wine tourism destinations in France.
A Major International Event
The Rosé Wines Session by CMB is now the leading international event dedicated to rosé wines. Each year, thousands of wines from around the world are blind-tasted by a panel of international experts.
In 2027, these tasters will gather in Anjou-Saumur to celebrate the diversity of rosé wines worldwide, in a vineyard that perfectly embodies the spirit of this wine style: modernity and conviviality.
Over three days, the event will offer international professionals the opportunity to discover the richness of the region, its wine heritage and the uniqueness of its rosés.
