Bolivia celebrates the achievements of its wines and singanis with a visit from the president of the Concours Mondial de Bruxelles, Baudouin Havaux.
Tarija, Bolivia, December 2024.
In an event full of pride and recognition, Baudouin Havaux, President of the Concours Mondial de Bruxelles, together with the local authorities of Tarija, led the Medal Ceremony for the Bolivian Winning Wines and Spirits of the Concours Mondial de Bruxelles 2024 and the Spirits Selection by CMB 2024. Havaux was accompanied by Carlos Borboa, Director of the CMB for the Americas, in a series of activities that honored the excellence of Bolivian products.
In Tarija, one of the main wine regions of Bolivia, Baudouin Havaux was received by local authorities, including the Municipal Mayor and the President of the Municipal Council, who awarded him the title of “Distinguished Guest” as a token of gratitude for his support of the country’s wine industry. During the event, an emotional recognition was also given to Luis Guzmán, who was officially named “Ambassador of the Concours Mondial de Bruxelles for Bolivia”, consolidating his role as the country’s representative in promoting wines and singanis on the international stage.
Over the course of four days, Havaux and the CMB Bolivia team visited the country’s main wine and singani producing valleys: Tarija, Cinti and Samaipata. These visits allowed the CMB president to learn about the production techniques, high-altitude vineyards and the unique character of Bolivian spirits and wines, which have won medals in the most prestigious competitions in the world.
The visit culminated in a historic meeting between Baudouin Havaux and the President of Bolivia, Luis Arce Catacora, who highlighted the important role that Bolivian wines and singanis have in promoting national culture and identity. This meeting underlined the Bolivian government’s commitment to the development of the wine and distillery industry as a strategy to strengthen the local economy and project Bolivian quality in international markets.
As a result of this visit and in commemoration of Bolivia’s Bicentennial, in 2025, for the first time, the first edition of the Bolivia Selection by CMB will be held, as a wine and spirits competition that will highlight the country’s best products. This contest, backed by the experience and prestige of the CMB, will be a key platform to promote Bolivia as a benchmark in the world of wine and spirits.
The visit of Baudouin Havaux and the Concours Mondial de Bruxelles team marks a milestone in the history of Bolivian viticulture and distillery. The international recognitions and the upcoming Bolivia Selection by CMB competition reinforce Bolivia’s commitment to position itself as a producer of excellence, highlighting the quality of its products on the global stage.
