Concours Mondial de Bruxelles presents CMB MERIT
For more than 30 years, the Concours Mondial de Bruxelles | CMB has evaluated wines from around the world according to the most demanding criteria in the sector, awarding a medal to a limited number of products.
In a context in which the competition and quality of world wine production have continued to increase, many wines today reach an exceptional level without obtaining the prized CMB medal.
Aware of this reality, the Concours Mondial de Bruxelles | CMB created CMB MERIT, a new quality label aimed at highlighting wines that deserve the attention of the market, in a different framework than the medals.
The CMB MERIT is not a medal, but distinguishes wines that have obtained a minimum score of 86/100. Evaluated with the same rigor as the awarded wines, they represent a high level of quality, being just below the threshold for obtaining a medal.
Recognize quality without discrediting medals
Although they did not win any medals, these wines were unanimously recognized by the judges for their quality.
As explained by Quentin Havaux, general director of the Concours Mondial de Bruxelles | CMB
“when five professional tasters from different countries and profiles agree on a wine’s quality, it is because it deserves to be recognized.”
The CMB MERIT thus identifies reliable, consistent and outstanding wines, while fully preserving the value and hierarchy of medals.
Further promote producers’ work with CMB marketing tools
This badge will allow the most outstanding producers (who do not receive a medal) to promote, thanks to the new tools of CMB, their wines recognized for their quality and know-how.
As with all participating wines, wines distinguished with “CMB MERIT” receive a complete tasting report including in particular a tasting commentary and a ready-to-use aroma wheel.
And like the award-winning products, “CMB MERIT” provides access to a new marketing tool of the CMB: a sensory sheet that collects the different characteristics of the wine tasted.

These are effective marketing tools to highlight the work of producers and wines worth discovering. CMB MERIT also opens the doors of CMB’s network of international partners, the most dynamic competition in the field.
A new quality label that responds to market demand
The new seal of the Concours Mondial de Bruxelles allows distributors and importers to certify the excellence of their catalogue and technically validate their selections.
For the consumer, it becomes an additional reference of trust at the time of purchase:
“I know that this wine is of quality, because it is certified by the CMB juries”
